Since the onset of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, thousands ofWith the continued support of generous donors, Qatar Charity stepped up its urgent humanitarian response after the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip took effect on 10 October 2025. This was despite restrictions imposed since that date and still in force on the delivery of humanitarian aid and the operations of international and United Nations organizations.
During the first three months of the ceasefire, Qatar Charity’s assistance focused on shelter, food, and water, benefiting hundreds of thousands of people. The organization also announced plans to implement additional projects soon valued at more than QAR 35.5 million. This is in addition to a further USD 16 million allocated for humanitarian interventions in Gaza during a high-level event organized by the State of Qatar in Cairo last October.
Persistent Challenges
Despite the ceasefire, living conditions in the Gaza Strip have not improved significantly, as the occupying authorities have not fulfilled their commitments, including permitting the entry of the agreed quantities of food, relief supplies, medical supplies, and mobile homes. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate alarmingly, and civilian suffering persists, particularly with the onset of winter.
Data from United Nations agencies and international organizations indicate that most of the Gaza’s population approximately 1.6 million people are experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity, while some 1.3 million people remain in urgent need of shelter. More than half of health facilities are only partially operational and face shortages of essential medical equipment and supplies. Meanwhile, the complete collapse of sanitation infrastructure has exposed 740,000 people to contaminated floodwater.
Shelter Assistance via Land Bridge
The land bridge through Egypt and Jordan is one of the principal routes for delivering shelter assistance to Gaza following the ceasefire. It is also a key relief channel through which Qatar Charity has supplied tents to displaced people in the Strip. Via the Jordanian route, 75 trucks carrying approximately 18,000 tents began entering Gaza, with the assistance expected to benefit 108,000 people. Via the Egyptian route, the entry of 16,994 tents began, with an expected 101,964 beneficiaries. The remaining tents are being delivered gradually over the coming period.
A ship also arrived carrying 29,200 shelter tents jointly provided by the Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Charity, and Qatar Red Crescent Society. It was received in Egypt by representatives of the Qatari diplomatic mission and a Qatar Charity delegation. The total number of tents provided as part of Qatar’s aid through the Egyptian humanitarian corridor was expected to reach 75,264 by approximately mid-November.
New Commitments
Alongside the delivery of this assistance, Qatar Charity participated in a high-level event organized by the State of Qatar in Cairo last October. The event highlighted joint Qatari Egyptian efforts to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
During the event, Qatar Charity’s Chief Executive Officer, Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, announced the allocation of an additional USD 16 million for humanitarian interventions in Gaza. He emphasized that the funding would enable an immediate expansion of aid operations across the Gaza Strip, including the provision of food, water, healthcare, and shelter for civilians affected by the conflict. This brought Qatar Charity’s total humanitarian contribution to support Gaza to more than USD 142 million from the outbreak of the war through the end of 2025.
Food and Water Supplies
From mid-October 2025 until the end of the year, Qatar Charity continued to distribute hot meals daily to displaced people returning from southern Gaza to Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip. It also provided more than 300 meals each day to patients and people with disabilities receiving treatment at Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza.
In addition, more than 24,000 food parcels were distributed from August through the end of 2025, along with approximately 2,400,000 liters of safe drinking water during the same period.
Planned Projects
Qatar Charity also announced that projects planned for implementation between December 2025, and January 2026 are valued at more than QAR 35.5 million and are expected to benefit over 586,000 people. The projects include the distribution of food parcels, fruit and vegetable baskets, and ready-to-eat meals; the provision of drinking water; the rehabilitation of partially damaged homes; and the implementation of emergency education projects.
