Over the past three years (2023–2025), Qatar Charity has significantly expanded its humanitarian footprint in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, strengthening its field presence through a series of high-impact interventions implemented in partnership with UN agencies, notably UNICEF and the World Food Programme (WFP).

Most of these initiatives were carried out through joint funding arrangements, with Qatar Charity contributing between 10% and 12%, while partner UN agencies provided 88% to 90%, reflecting strong institutional confidence in Qatar Charity’s capacity for efficient field implementation and adherence to quality and governance standards.

Through these strategic partnerships, Qatar Charity reached approximately 2.2 million people across various regions of Pakistan, delivering integrated programs that went beyond emergency relief to improve quality of life and support sustainable change—particularly in nutrition, food security, and water and sanitation.

Following the devastating floods that struck Pakistan in 2025, Qatar Charity and UNICEF swiftly launched emergency interventions to support affected communities. Central to this response was the Nutrition in Emergencies initiative, implemented in the flood-affected districts of Rajanpur, Jhang, Muzaffargarh, and Multan in Punjab Province.

The program focused on improving access to treatment for acutely malnourished children as well as pregnant and lactating women, benefiting 162,866 people. Interventions included the provision of essential nutritional supplements for children aged 6–59 months and breastfeeding mothers, alongside awareness sessions on maternal nutrition, nurturing care, early childhood development, and infant and young child feeding practices.

Beyond direct service delivery, the initiative contributed to strengthening local systems through capacity building, improved coordination, and enhanced information management, supporting a more sustainable emergency nutrition response.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)

Complementing nutrition efforts, Qatar Charity implemented an emergency WASH project to address urgent sanitation and hygiene needs in flood-affected areas. The project enabled 109,900 people to access climate-resilient sanitation facilities designed with cultural sensitivity, gender considerations, and accessibility for persons with disabilities.

In parallel, 100,000 people benefited from hygiene awareness campaigns focusing on essential practices and disaster risk reduction. Special attention was given to children, with 5,000 provided access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation facilities in schools, temporary learning centers, child-friendly spaces, and health facilities—creating healthier and safer learning environments.

Qatar Charity’s response extended beyond emergencies to address long-standing structural challenges, particularly in Balochistan, one of Pakistan’s most underserved regions and home to approximately 500,000 Afghan refugees.

In partnership with UNICEF, a two-year sanitation project was launched to improve access to safe and dignified sanitation services for both refugees and host communities. The initiative benefited 113,770 people through the construction of culturally appropriate, user-friendly latrines across 100 villages, contributing to improved public health outcomes and the preservation of human dignity.

Investing in Child Health and Nutrition

As part of its long-term commitment to sustainable impact, Qatar Charity continues to invest in strengthening health systems. In collaboration with UNICEF, a two-year initiative is being implemented across 26 districts in Punjab to improve the prevention, early detection, and management of child wasting.

By enhancing local health system capacity, strengthening referral pathways, and improving monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms, the initiative is expected to benefit 1,264,489 people, contributing to lasting improvements in child health and nutrition.

WFP Partnership: Strengthening Food Security

In partnership with the World Food Programme, Qatar Charity addressed urgent food security needs through an emergency cash assistance program following the 2022 floods. Implemented across selected districts in Sindh and Punjab, the program supported 156,800 people over eight months in 2023, helping vulnerable families meet immediate food needs and avoid harmful coping strategies.
