Over the past three years, Qatar Charity (QC) has provided a wide range of medical services to Syrian refugees in Jordan—through its health center in Zaatari Camp as well as complementary humanitarian interventions. The following highlights capture the most significant achievements between 2023 and 2025:
Health Center
Since its reopening in November 2023, Qatar Charity’s health center in Zaatari Camp has become a true lifeline for thousands of refugees—offering free medical care alongside health awareness programs within a comprehensive humanitarian model. The center operates with support from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and generous donors from Qatar, and in partnership with the Arabian Medical Relief (AMR), a Jordan-based charitable medical organization
Within a relatively short period, the center has served more than 25,000 beneficiaries, delivering approximately 95,986 medical consultations across a wide range of specialties. Its supporting services have remained equally robust, with 69,908 prescriptions dispensed, 34,774 laboratory tests conducted, and 8,888 emergency cases treated.
In addition, 514 children received vaccinations, while 252 dehydration cases were managed. Preventive care has also been a core focus, with 281 health education sessions benefiting over 1,300 individuals.
The total cost of this humanitarian project exceeded QAR 8 million, reflecting a genuine commitment to protecting human health and dignity.
Critical Medical Interventions
Beyond routine care, Qatar Charity implemented specialized interventions for critical cases. A total of eight complex medical cases were treated, including spinal surgeries, cardiac procedures, ophthalmic operations, diabetes-related amputations, and other advanced surgical interventions. These were carried out in coordination with leading Jordanian referral institutions, including Jordan University Hospital (JUH) and the Specialty Hospital.
Additionally, Qatar Charity supported the treatment of four cancer patients from Zaatari Camp at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). This integrated treatment journey exceeds QAR 1 million in cost and stands as a powerful reflection of the value placed on saving lives. The patients represent different age groups, underscoring an inclusive humanitarian approach. Notably, one case was diagnosed and referred through Qatar Charity’s health center, while all patients continue to receive ongoing care— driven by hope and continuous medical follow-up.
Chronic Care: Kidney Dialysis
As part of its efforts to strengthen care for chronic conditions, Qatar Charity launched a kidney dialysis project for Syrian refugees in Jordan in May 2025. The initiative provides a sustainable response to patients suffering from renal failure.
To date, 163 patients have benefited from the project, including 123 receiving regular treatment. Over 11,900 dialysis sessions have been conducted, alongside specialized medical procedures, through a network of partner hospitals across the Kingdom—ensuring uninterrupted access to essential care.
The total cost of the project exceeds QAR 7.1 million, with more than QAR 3.18 million already disbursed. This investment goes beyond treatment—it restores patients’ ability to live with dignity, resilience, and hope.
A Coordinated Humanitarian Effort
Commenting on these achievements, Eng. Derar Hamdo Maaytah, Country Director of Qatar Charity’s Jordan Branch, emphasized that the progress made reflects a coordinated institutional effort built on strong partnerships.
He affirmed Qatar Charity’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with official entities and local and international partners to ensure that humanitarian aid and medical services reach those most in need—efficiently and effectively.
