Food Supply: The Largest Share of Sudan Aid in 2025

Food supply projects and food basket distributions accounted for the largest share of both costs and the number of beneficiaries affected. Key activities in this area also included:

  • Distributing food baskets in Port Sudan, including to the “Qadireen” Center (Sudan’s first charitable addiction treatment center) and the “Aman for Survivors” Center (dedicated to girls who suffered rape during the war), as part of the “Providing Meals and Living Supplies for Displaced Persons” project.
  • Food aid also reached the “Dhat al-Nitaqayn” shelter, as well as displaced persons and affected families in the Red Sea, Al-Qadarif, Kassala, Al-Jazirah, and River Nile states. Additionally, support was provided to the Zaki Al-Din takiyya (community kitchen) in El Obeid, North Kordofan State, to alleviate the severe living hardships and food access challenges faced by many war-affected families.
  • These projects also included the distribution of living supplies, meals, and food items to displaced families across three states, aiming to facilitate their voluntary return after enduring extremely difficult circumstances.
  • With support from the Qatar Fund for Development, a major food security project was also implemented; Qatar Charity teams distributed approximately 154 tons of dates and 2,500 food baskets to displaced persons and those affected by the war.
  • New support was also provided to several community kitchens serving displaced people and affected families in Khartoum State. Furthermore, at the “Qatar Al-Khair” camp in the Al-Debba area, food supplies totaling 3,412 food baskets were provided for kitchens serving displaced persons within the camp, with continued support from the Qatar Fund for Development.
  • Lastly, basic food supplies were provided to facilitate free meals for vulnerable families and those affected by the war. Food aid was also delivered to areas in Khartoum witnessing a significant voluntary return of families displaced by the conflict.

Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFIs)

Anticipating the arrival of displaced persons from El Fasher (western Sudan) to the Al-Debba area (northern Sudan) following an escalation of fighting in October 2025, Qatar Charity took urgent action to establish the “Qatar Al-Khair” camp. In particular, with support from the Qatar Fund for Development, the organization provided 1,640 tents, 3,700 hygiene kits, 4,240 blankets, 3,950 floor mats, 6,600 mosquito nets, and 2,080 kitchen sets, alongside food baskets. Additionally, the organization mobilized the “Nafra Sudan” (Sudan Mobilization) campaign to address other relief needs.

In addition, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Qatar Charity implemented a project to support displaced persons and returnees in the Red Sea and Al-Jazira states, distributing shelter materials and non-food items that benefited thousands of families.

Health Support in Sudan Aid 2025

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the health sector, Qatar Charity’s key interventions also included:

  • Urgently responding to the cholera outbreak by providing the intravenous fluids and medications necessary to combat the epidemic, which spread during the autumn season across several affected Sudanese states.
  • Operating medical clinics to provide healthcare services, including free medical examinations and treatment in Al-Jazira State and at a camp for displaced people in the Western Al-Gallabat locality of Al-Qadarif State. These services were particularly crucial given the prevalence of dengue fever, malaria, and diarrheal diseases during the autumn season.
  • Alleviating the suffering of approximately 10,000 kidney failure patients in River Nile State, who previously faced long waits for hemodialysis sessions, by providing 14 dialysis machines to Al-Damer Hospital and a hospital in the Al-Bauqa area.
  • Finally, implementing a specialized project to provide eight incubators for premature infants and phototherapy units. These were also distributed to major hospitals in the cities of Port Sudan and Wad Madani, both of which had experienced severe shortages and equipment damage due to the war.

Water and Sanitation

  • Raising awareness regarding hygiene and the prevention of waterborne diseases among displaced persons and those affected by the crisis, particularly amidst the cholera outbreak and the seasonal spread of dengue fever, malaria, and diarrheal diseases. This also included health awareness initiatives for approximately 1,760 beneficiaries across multiple states, conducted as part of the medical clinic project run by Qatar Charity.
  • Additionally, 3,700 personal hygiene kits and 6,600 mosquito nets were distributed to displaced persons who had fled El Fasher to the Al-Debba area in northern Sudan.
